NEW DATA ON THE PALAEOENVIRONMENTAL CHANGES IN THE FLOOD PLAIN OF THE SAONE RIVER SINCE THE LATEGLACIAL PERIOD: PALYNOLOGY, GEOMORPHOLOGY The river Saone has held scientists' attention since the 19(th) century. Many of them have studied the peculiarities of its alluvial dynamics, especially between Villefranche-sur-Saonc and Lyon. Since the 1980's palaeoenvironmental studies have been added to the geological ones, thanks to regional development or archaeological works in the flood plain of the river. Two transects were obtained by drilling in the palaeochannels of Boitrait at Saint-Georges-de-Reneins (Rhone) and of la Scrree at Simandre (Saone-et-Loire). We carried out pollen analysis of the transects and C-14-AMS datings were possible, allowing us to make a hypothesis about the dynamics of the river Saone in these two sectors since the Lateglacial period. These analyses also give us some information about anthropisation of the flood plain by completing the archaeological data.
