Reactively synthesized nanostructured PM aluminium composite - Microstructure stability and elevated temperature hardness response

摘要
The concept of dispersion strengthening with an in-situ processing approach based on mechanical alloying of Ai-TiO2 followed by hot compaction was described. Microsized Al powder and nanosized TiO2 powder with an average primary particle size of 21 nm were used. High energy ball milling in argon atmosphere caused disagglomeration and incorporation of the TiO 2 nanoparticles into aluminum particles. Reactive synthesis by mechanical alloying and subsequent hot consolidation in an appropriate way to produce Al-Al3Ti-Al2O3 nanocomposites was shown.
