摘要
Laboratory and field tests were performed to determine the properties of the soils necessary to perform radionuclide transport modeling for two evaporation ponds at UMETCO's Gas Hills uranium mine in Wyoming. Soil properties were determined for a compacted clay liner and underlying waste rock, including saturated hydraulic conductivities, soil-water retention curves, exchangeable cations, and an adsorption isotherm for uranium. The results of these tests will be used subsequently to model the unsaturated migration of uranium from the evaporation ponds.
