摘要
The article presents a study of the photographic portraits taken in Brazilian studios in the second half of the 19th century, especially from the creation of the "cartes de visite", whose focus are enslaved people. The main objective is to understand the forms of representation and self-representation of the historical narrative, as well as the visual culture and the social circle of the images. The methodology adopted is image analysis, based on the concepts developed in the bibliography, such as the Appeased Violence of Mariana Muaze (2017).
