摘要
The photo-reversible cycloaddition reaction of anthracene groups is used to impart self-healing properties into hydrogenated carboxylated nitrile butadiene rubber (HXNBR). Side chain modification of a commercially available HXNBR type with epoxy functional anthracene derivatives yields a photo-responsive rubber, which undergoes reversible crosslinking in response to different wavelengths. The reversible switching of the crosslinking state is exploited for an intrinsic healing of damages within the elastomer. The ability of the photo-responsive rubber to restore its tensile properties after a repeated inflicting of macroscopic cracks at the same fracture point is shown by tensile tests.
