Flash stress annealings in nanocrystalline alloys for new inductive components

This paper deals with the analysis of both crystallization (by XRD) and losses in stress-flash-annealed Finemet-type nanocrystalline, alloys. The results shows the efficiency of a new heating technique to obtain magnetic cores (mu similar to 200-300 over DeltaB = 1.2 T, P-0.1T/25 kHz < 30 mW/cm(3), no airgap, good thermal behaviour). They were well adapted for applications such as flyback transformers, special current probes, inductances for resonant DC/AC converters. The originality comes from the ability to adjust the desired permeability by inducing strong transversal anisotropy (few thousands J/m(3), two, orders higher than in field annealing) by mechanical tensile stress and to produce directly wound cores.
