摘要
A new model is suggested for the description of interdiffusion and reactive diffusion in powder mixtures. It is called the divided diffusion couple model. It can be used for the initial stage of sintering. A new parameter is introduced by this model: the ratio of surface areas S-A/S-B ("relative dispersibility"). This parameter is shown to rule the kinetics of homogenization ill the systems with full mutual solubility as well as the phase competition in systems with intermediate phases. The distribution of particles in the size space is also taken into account. (C) 1998 Acta Metallurgica Inc.
