On the Gap of Coordinated Urban and Rural Development in the Four Regions in China

An important task for contemporary China is to unify urban and rural development and modernize its agriculture in order to develop rural economy and increase farmers' income for the construction of a relatively affluent society in China. But the gap among the four major regions in China greatly hinders the country's coordinated development. A region's coordination ability is determined by its level of economic coordination, social coordination and coordination of people's living standard. The paper offers an evaluation index system to determine the gap of coordination levels in Easter, Western, Central and North-eastern China through the empirical study and application of principle component analysis.
