A novel class of molecular clips was synthesized I which are soluble in most non-polar organic solvents. Aromatic amines and diethoxycarbonyl glycoluril were used for the first time in this type of reaction. All reaction products gave satisfying H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, MS, and IR spectra. In addition, the structure and conformation of 4d were confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction.
