In-vitro investigation of blood embolization in cancer treatment using magnetorheological fluids

摘要
In a 'simulated' simple blood network made of silicone tubes, three magnetorheological fluids made of iron and iron-oxide particles are compared for embolizing fluid flow under an applied magnetic field. The sealing strength and seal formation time are measured as a function of particle concentration, magnetic property, carrier fluid, and flow rate. Future applications for cancer therapy are discussed. (C) 2001 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
