摘要
A hybrid life-cycle cost model used as objective function is developed to optimize bridge design scenario. This design method considers lifetime performance, maintenance actions in service time and life-cycle costs and finds a tradeoff among lifetime performance, maintenance actions and life-cycle costs. An optimal maintenance scenario is included in the hybrid life-cycle cost model to keep bridge in a satisfactory service level. An example bridge is employed to illustrate the reasonability of the developed whole-life design method. It is found that increasing the initial construction cost considerably for improving the structural durability can decrease number of maintenance actions and the associated maintenance cost.
