摘要：

This paper reports on our efforts at improving the quality of science education in rural schools in Andhra Pradesh, India. The strategy is to provide IT enriched teaching resources (multimedia content) to rural science teachers. The content development is done primarily by school teachers, through periodic training-cum-development workshops. The teachers thus become partners in the deployment and spread of IT enriched resources for use in teaching. An open-source authoring tool (Squeak) is used for this training as it is easy to use and available as freeware. Experience gained from conducting five such workshops show the viability of this approach.
