The Continuity of the US Policy Towards Central Asia

The article represents the retrospect of U.S. foreign policy towards Central Asia since the collapse of the Soviet Union. Authors compare various geopolitical doctrines of Bill Clinton, George Bush Jr., Barack Obama and Donald Trump administrations in order to evaluate the U.S. impact on economy and political landscape in Central Asia. Considering strategies of all administrations, authors conclude that despite different approaches each strategy was based on the same principles - supporting the sovereignty and independence of Central Asian countries through economic and democratic reforms, creating an environment for penetrating U.S. companies at local markets, resisting to Russian and Chinese influence in the region, and combating terrorism after 9/11. In sum, this article demonstrates that the of U.S. foreign policy towards Central Asia have been always the same just changing priorities in places. The research results provide us with the ground for future research on U.S. plans regarding the region.
