Large-scale model of the interstellar medium, with new constraints on the hot gas component

摘要
We model the Galactic distribution of the interstellar gas, cosmic rays, magnetic fields, gravitational field, and supernovae, using up-to-date observational data together with the theoretical requirement that the interstellar medium (ISM) be in hydrostatic balance at midplane. With the help of our model ISM, we then compute the filling factor of the hot gas component as a function of Galactic radius and height.
