摘要：

This article studies accountability in basic education in Brazil. The main objective of this study was to present a synthesis of publications on educational accountability policies in Brazil. As a methodological resource, an integrative literature review was used, on the CAPES and REDALYC platforms, defining the keywords: basic education in Brazil and accountability as the inclusion criterion. As a result, the data showed some theoretical and conceptual concerns about the term and also showed that, in Brazil, the term was more recurrent since 2005, when the Basic Education Assessment System (SAEB) was reformulated, enabling the development of census studies.
