摘要：

This paper discusses motion compensation on the subband domain. A rigorous mathematical formula is derived that presents how the motion compensation on the full band signal can be expressed on the subband representation. In this way, it is found that the cross-term filter must be introduced and the motion compensation concept, which have not been discussed, must be extended. This result is confirmed with video signal. It is found that MC similar to that on the full band can be carried out on the subband. The present research is expected to contribute to improvement of the efficiency of the layered video coding scheme. (C) 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
