摘要：

This paper is the part of a case study conducted in railway locomotive, which aims to optimize preventive maintenance policy for supercharger and provide technical support for the application of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) in railway locomotive, China. In this paper, RCM is applied in the supercharger of railway locomotive. RCM based preventive maintenance schedule for a supercharger is formulated and compared with the company's existing preventive maintenance schedule. Comparison results verify RCM effectiveness in keeping reliability and reducing maintenance cost. Finally, some advice for further application and popularization in railway locomotive of China are presented according to the design, usage and maintenance characters of the current railway locomotive.
