摘要
In order to sustain the manufacturing industry under the current global situation of fierce competition, a company needs to reduce or eliminate the idle and or down time of operation in addition to improvement of the current production efficiency and working method. In this case study, the main problem and challenge of oil and gas companies is due to non-optimal operations with inefficiency in the distribution of the work loading. The whole production layout suffers due to the absence of established standard time for activities carried out by workers, unbalanced load carried, non-value added (NVA) activities involved and inefficient methods. The primary goal of this present paper is to focus on the improvement of the production efficiency of current a "Front of Line" production layout by identifying and minimizing unnecessary activities at the bottleneck and to rearrange the allocation of man power in the production line to increment the line balancing. This study is conducted through the Time Study Technique to obtain an estimate for the time allowed for a qualified and well-trained worker in a normal situation to complete a specific task. Result shows that through improving the working method and by rearranging the allocation of manpower, it is possible to well balancing the process flow as well as ensuring economic benefits.
