摘要
A study was conducted to design, implement, and evaluate a cross layer mechanism to integrate IEEE 802.16-2004 technology in a composed NGN radio access network (RAN), enabling the support of end-to-end (E2E) QoS and fast mobility. The study proposed an architecture that was compliant with the NRM defined by the WiMAX Forum. It was composed of a core network (CN), a wired AN and the RAN. The CN corresponded to the CSN in the WiMAX Forum, while the AN and RAN corresponded to the WiMAX Forum ASN. The 802.16 BS was used as a backhaul for the 802.11e network, while it was directly connected to the access router (AR) and the 802.16 subscriber stations (SSs) were directly connected to the 802.11e access points (APs). Two technology dependent modules were also implemented to manage the complete 802.16 system. One of the modules was implemented on the AR to control the BS, while the other was implemented on the 802.11e AP to control the SS.
