摘要
Copper (Cu) and europium (Eu) doped potassium chloride, potassium bromide and sodium chloride single crystals were grown using Czochoralski technique. Optical absorption (OA) studies were carried out to find the peak absorption wavelength in these crystals. Photoluminescence (PL) and thermoluminescence (TL) studies were carried out in these crystals both before and after irradiating with Co-60 gamma rays. The photoluminescence emission was found by exciting the crystals using light of wavelength where maximum absorption was obtained. In the case of Cu doped samples the photoluminescence emission intensity was found to decrease after irradiation. The Eu2+ emission intensity was also found to decrease in all samples. The TL emission studies showed the characteristic emission of the dopants in these crystals except in bromide. The TL emission spectra in these samples showed emission in the range 420-450 nm.
