Recrystallization texture in nickel-chromium alloys

Ni and Ni-Cr tapes with Cr contents up to 20 at.% have been prepared by cold rolling with a thickness reduction of more than 99.5%. These tapes were heat treated at different temperatures between 200degreesC and 1000degreesC to examine the influence of recovery, recrystallization and grain growth on the development of the annealing texture. The recrystallization temperature increases with increasing alloying content. At 14at.% Cr content the main component of the recrystallisation texture changes from the cube orientation to {025}<100>. At the same time the size of the recrystallized grains decreases. These changes correlate with changes in the deformation texture and the stacking fault energy.
