Laguna Patroller: Mobile Application for Public Awareness about Violence with Global Positioning System and Image Processing

摘要
The Laguna Patroller mobile application was developed to create public awareness of the different manifestations of violence and the laws applicable to it. The aim is to help lessen cases of violence in the province of Laguna by providing the user with a channel through for reporting cases of violence to local law enforcement agencies. It employs an image processing feature for capturing and storing photos when sending a report and uses GPS technology for real-time tracking of the location of the user. The RAD methodology was adopted in the design and development of the mobile application system. Testing and evaluation according to ISO 25010 standards were conducted by 151 respondents from different towns in Laguna. Results of the reliability analysis revealed an acceptable level of system reliability (alpha=.821), despite the low scores garnered on the availability and recoverability categories. The system received a "Very Good" overall score (grand weighted mean=3.63), which indicates that the functional requirements set by the developers during the evaluation period have been met adequately. Enhancements in the website and application design, GPS functionality and system reliability and the addition of video recording capability are some of the planned improvements for the system.
