Development of Nano Alumina/Micro ATH Filled Silicone Elastomers for High Voltage Insulation Applications

摘要
The study provides results of analysis performed on laboratory prepared binary composites of nano Alumina and micro Aluminum Tri Hydrate dispersed in silicone rubber elastomer. Extent of dispersion is analyzed through SEM micrographs. Thermogravimetric analysis shows a small improvement in thermal properties. Stress strain curves is analyzed for the effects of nano Alumina in altering tensile strength and percentage elongation at break. Dielectric strength in oil, and dry arc resistance test is also performed on the composites. Agglomeration of nano Alumina and subsequent development of thermal links between agglomerated sub- micron structures of nano Alumina and micro Aluminum Tri Hydrate is briefly discussed. A preliminary analysis of the afore mentioned properties is performed and reported in this study.
