Intelligent Data Repository is an Active Data Repository. A standard database can only store and retrieve static or inactive information. But an Intelligent Data Repository is a more efficient approach for storing large chunks of information. It integrates data retrieval with processing. This is particularly helpful for large datasets generated by detailed three (or more) dimensional scientific simulations and by sensors attached to satellites, aircraft, telescopes and microscopes, etc. These datasets describe computed or measured attributes associated with spatial regions. In this paper the structure and applications of intelligent data repository have been discussed. A miniature IDR for Oncology application has been developed and explained briefly.
