On the nonlinear dynamic characteristics of truck rear full-floating axle

摘要
This paper is essentially concerned with the question of how the rear full-floating axle of a truck behaves in response to road induced excitation. The axle is modeled as a single-degree-of-freedom system excited by a sinusoidal base motion. Linear and nonlinear analytical approaches are used to examine the axle's response characteristics. Linear analysis shows that the axle's response is characterized by its natural frequency and damping ratio. It's worth noticing the occurrence of the jump phenomenon illustrated by the solution of Duffing's equation used to model the axle's nonlinear behavior. Both approaches appear to be complementary in providing more insight into the axle's dynamic behavior.
