Fabrication and mechanical properties of aluminum/aluminum nitride composite made from aluminum powders

摘要
The influence of the some conditions when aluminum/aluminum nitride (Al/AlN) composite material (Metal Matrix Composite, MMC) was fabricated from A powders which had different gram size was investigated. Two sizes of Al powders were mixed, then it was heated at 1273K and held for 3600 see in nitrogen atmosphere. After that cooled in the furnace, the obtained specimens were characterized using X-ray diffraction and EPMA. Tensile and Vickers hardness test was carried out Then, it was shown the results as follows; 1 The size of A powder that was mixed was important for the MMC fabrication. The particular small size was necessary 2. The MMC was composed of Al and AlN, and the pourous part containing AlN was distributed to fill between the gram boundary of Al. 3. Compared with pure Al, the tensile stress of the MMC was not improved, but Vickers hardness was increased.
