摘要
Plates and round bars made of a pure iron or a carbon steel (JIS-S45C) have successfully been coated with Al3Ti powder by the "powder eutectic coating" method. The coated layers are found to show graded microstructures, where the concentrations of Fe, Al, and Ti change gradually from the surface toward the inside of a specimen. The microstructure of the coated layer consists of Al3Ti, 73 (Al22Fe3Ti8), tau2 (Al2FeTi), and B2 (FeAl). When the coated specimens were subjected to heat-cycling tests between 293 and 973 K, they showed no cracking, no peeling. little oxidation, and no significant changes in microstructure.
