Four cysteine-containing calix[4]arenes, including three bis-cysteine bridged and one non-bridged, were synthesized by the reaction of calix[4]arene diacid dichloride with the corresponding S-alkylated cysteine esters. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
