摘要：

Homoleptic cobalt(II) and cobalt(III) complexes of the sterically demanding bidentate ligand N-ethyl-2-(2'-hydroxy-3'-methylphenyl)benzimidazole (H-ehmpb) are reported. The bis-ligand cobalt(II) complex Co(ehmpb)(2) has a distorted tetrahedral geometry with Co-N bond lengths of 1.982(3) and 1.976(3) Angstrom, and Co-O bond lengths of 1.915(2) and 1.930(2) Angstrom. The tris-ligand cobalt(III) complex Co(ehmpb), has a distorted mer-octahedral geometry with Co-N bond lengths of 1.879(6), 1.897(6), and 1.895(6) Angstrom, and Co-O bond lengths of 1.923(7), 1.937(7), and 1.937(7) Angstrom.
