In situ polymerization of E-caprolactone catalysed by Maghnite-TOA to produce poly(ε-caprolactone)/montmorillonite nanocomposites

摘要
Maghnite-TOA is a montmorillonite clay co-exchanged with tetraoctylammonium cations and protons. Bulk polymerisations of epsilon-caprolactone (CL) induced by Maghnite-TOA were conducted at 80 degrees C and produced poly(epsilon-caprolactone)/Montmorillonite nanocomposites with different wt% of Maghnite. X-ray diffraction was used to investigate the changes in clay stratification before and after cationic exchange of raw Maghnite with tetraoctylammonium cations and protons. Resulted nanocomposites were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), force atomic microscopy (AFM) and thermogravimetry. The evolution of mechanical properties was also studied.
