摘要：

The techniques and good practice for temperature control and strain measurement with regards to testing shape memory alloy (SMA) wire are discussed. Two alloys have continuously been characterized through a series of isothermal experiments to show the range of tensile responses in a temperature window spanning the respective stress-free transformation temperatures. The thermomechanical sensitivities in the material have been quantified by mapping the characteristic transformation stresses and strains. Furthermore, the material instabilities, strain localization, and propagating transformation fronts have been discussed as well as their implications on measured responses.
