Study and implementation of a decision support system for urban transit planning

A decision support system (DSS) has been developed for urban transit planning, which provides the following functions: data storage, data analysis and decision-making support. The DSS consists of a database management system, a model base management system, and a dialog generation and management system. The relational model is selected in the design of the database management system. The decision-making models in the DSS include trip planning model for passengers and trip prediction model for transit planners, etc. The Mass Transit Railway (MTR) and Kowloon Canton Railway (KCR) networks in Hong Kong are used as a case study.
