摘要
Sry is at the top of the cascade of genetic activity leading to male development in mammals. It does not have to work hard, however, to maintain its position. A quick burst of activity of this Winked gene at the right time is all that is needed to trigger the downstream events. But does SRY act on a single or several downstream targets? Recent data can be used to argue that SRY has only one critical downstream target, Sox9. However, we should be a little careful before jumping to this conclusion.
