Transition energies and radiative and radiationless transition rates for argon ions Ar9+ to Ar16+ have been calculated in the Dirac-Fock approximation, including quantum-electrodynamic corrections, for deexcitation to the ground configuration of all levels in the 1s 2s(2) 2p(n) (n = 0,..., 6), 1s 2s 2p(n) (n = 1,..., 6), and 1s 2p configurations. These data are of interest in the interpretation of x-ray spectra originating from plasmas in tokamaks, ion sources, and ion traps and from astrophysical plasmas. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science.
