摘要
The role of photovoltaics (PV) as renewable resources to replace nuclear energy is discussed. The photovoltaics, which is direct conversion of sunlight to electricity, is the simplest way to tap largest sustainable and indigenous energy source. The energy and financial pay-back times of a PV system depend on the average intensity of sunlight at a particular location, along with fabrication costs. The continued rise in 3rd generation efficiencies and falling costs will facilitate the development of an ideal PV application, providing hydrogen for the fuel-cell-powered transportation.
