摘要
Brake disc is the most important component in disc braking device. It transforms the kinetic energy of vehicles into frictional heat energy through the friction with brake lining and dissipates the heat into the surrounding environment. This paper focuses on the analysis of the shrinkage cavity and porosity as a major casting defect in vermicular cast iron brake disc and the explanation of its causes including the hazardous elements of pig iron, vermicular technique, and the quantity of curing agent to be added. Countermeasures to solve these problems are also proposed to effectively increase the qualification rate of flaw detection of brake disc.
