In this paper, the f-index is proposed as a new index that measures both the productivity and impact of the published work of a scientific researcher. Firstly, the definition of h-index and g-index is shortly revisit. Then the definition of f-index is proposed by way of a vector index. A scholar with an index of f = (m, n) has published m papers each of which has been cited by others at least n times. Next, some properties of f-index are investigated. The relationships between f-index and some other bibliometric indicators (such as g-index and h-index) are discussed. Finally, we conclude this paper with some remarks.
