The knowledge of multifactorial factors of influence oil the etiology of bovine mastitis has lip to now not sufficiently influenced the concept of an economic strategy of mastitis control. This paper deals therefore with some criteria, confirmed by international publications. what should be integrated in a proposal economically and ecologically acceptable proposal for bovine mastitis control. Especially in high yielding herds, the herd problem mastitis can only be solved by highly motivated dairy farmers, suffiently informed about news in the field of mastitis control mastitis and ably and willing for a continuously critical evaluation of all data of the cows in the herd.
