The paper contains: definition of arterial pressure (AP) variability and enumeration of its types; consideration of value of different types of AP variability as independent risk factor of stroke; literature data on effect of antihypertensive drug therapy on AP variability; detailed analysis of effect of beta-adrenoblockers on AP variability in dependence on their key pharmacokinetic properties.
