Critical Analysis on City Region Governance of Yangtze River Delta in China

Under the background of globalisation, regional theories and policies have been gradually important for newly developing countries in need of the improvement of regional competitiveness. China is with no exception. However, as the improvement of global competitiveness is the general objectives of city-region governance, there are more detailed purposes for different areas during different periods, and the approaches to achieve the objectives are also distinguished, therefore this paper will focus on briefly examining the implement of region governance in Yangtze River Delta. Based on the recent document-Yangtze River Delta Regional Planning, this paper critically analyses the advantages and disadvantages brought by the region governance strategy of Yangtze River Delta, and then puts forward some recommendations on the regional planning policy from the perspective of spatial planning.
