Improving the wind stability of box-girder suspension bridges in erection

摘要
Numerical wind stability analyses are performed for the erection process of both a state-of-the-art and a hypothetical 3000m span box-girder suspension bridge. The determination of an alternative non-symmetric erection sequence is studied. The use of stationary aerodynamic appendages is seen to be a very promising measure to improve the wind stability limits in the construction phase. Comparatively, the response of the 3000m span bridge is less problematic in the construction phase than in the final state.
