Design of Metamaterial for Wide Stop Band Application

摘要
In this paper, design and simulation of unit cell structure of left-handed metamaterial (LHM) is presented. FR4 is used as a substrate whose height is 1.7mm with dielectric constant 4.4. The value of negative permittivity and permeability are obtained using Split Ring Resonator (SRR) and Capacitive Loaded Strips (CLS) respectively. Nicolson-Ross-Wier approach is been used for finding the double negative region in the metamaterial unit cell. From simulation result we noticed that bandwidth of stopband of unit cell metamaterial is 3.06 GHz which can be used for enhancing the gain of antenna operating in S-band by decreasing the surface waves coming from antenna.
