摘要
An understanding of the settlement behaviour is necessary for designing the joints between the separate parts of any major construction. The settlement behaviour of a major construction is presented here using the example of the Rothensee lock with its shallow foundation. The settlement computation takes into account the whole area around the lock, including factors such as loads and soil stratification. This gives the settlement of the lock and the movements of each part of the construction.
