摘要
As a preventative method against frost heave in roads, the replacement method is generally used to fill the space between the base course and the frost penetration depth with a granular material such as sand. However, this replacement method gives rise to the problems of disposal of excavated waste soil as well as destruction of nature in the process of obtaining granular materials. In this paper, a test section of road was constructed in which the subgrade soil was stabilized by lime, and the effect of this lime stabilization on the prevention of frost heave was investigated. As a test result, lime stabilization had little effect on the frost penetration depth. The amount of frost heave on the ground surface was large in the case of an untreated base course, and became smaller as the percentage of lime added to the soil was increased. In the case of additional rate 10%, the amount of frost heave was the same as sand replacement. From the test results, it implies that when stabilized soil was used for frost blanket, thickness of this layer can be reduced.
