摘要：

Substance use and abuse among adolescents in the United States is highly prevalent and continues to be a serious problem. Compared to the literature available for adult treatment, relatively little empirical data has been directed at developing effective treatment for adolescents. This article reviews the following topics: epidemiology of substance abuse in adolescents, the natural history of adolescent substance use, and the transition to substance use disorders (SUD), psychiatric comorbidity, assessment, prevention, and treatment.
