Biofunctionalized pH-responsive microgels for cancer cell targeting: Rational design

摘要
Biofuctionalized pH-responsive microgels based drug-delivery systems (DDS) offer a novel approach for specific targeting of cancer cells. The receptor-mediated endocytosis process, along with pH changes in the intracellular environment were used for targeted delivery of organic molecules into the tumor cells. The recepto-specific molecules were conjugated onto the surface of the microgels for targeting diseased cells. An anticancer drug was then loaded into the microgel by electrostatic interactions between the microgel and the drug.
