摘要
On April 15, 1979, as Roland Barthes embarks upon his Camera Lucida, he faces three obsessive problems that he has been trying to solve for some years. The first is aesthetics: what does photography represent? The second is poetry: how to transition to writing novels? The last is ethics: how to pay tribute to the deceased mother he still mourns? This essay will demonstrate how the narrative codes and temporality of thrillers provided Barthes with the (formal?) answers he was seeking.
