摘要：

The development of nuclear-transfer techniques using cultured somatic cells1,2,3,4 allows animals to be produced without involving germline cells. This enables us to examine the importance of the repair of chromosome ends (telomeres) in the germ line and to test the telomere hypothesis of ageing5,6,7,8.
