Experimental determination and thermodynamic calculation of BaO-In2O3-B2O3 system

Phase relations in BaO-In2O3-B2O system were experimentally and theoretically studied. Firstly, phase equilibria in B2O3 -rich corner at 1298 and 1323 K were measured with EPMA and XRD. Then, thermodynamic assessment was performed based on the measured phase relations in this work and from literatures by CALPHAD method using Thermo-Calc software. The intermediate phases were treated as stoichiometric compounds, and the liquid phase was described by the two-sublattice ionic liquid model (In3+, Ba2+)(P)(O2-, BO33-, B4O72-, B3O4.5)(Q). A set of self -consistent thermodynamic parameters was obtained and the calculated phase diagrams and thermochemical properties conform well to the measurements.
