Development of Wireless Biomedical Data Transmission and Real Time Monitoring System

The acquisition and remote transmission of patient data is becoming an ever more important topic in medical research. Recent improvements in electronic technology and accessibility can provide interesting solutions for medical diagnostics and therapy. The goal of this paper is to present the development and investigation of a system capable of wireless biomedical data transmission and real time monitoring using off the shelf products. The biomedical data sensors consist of a skin temperature sensor, a heart rate sensor and an accelerometer. The wireless communication provides sensor data to a PC, at which point, real time data monitoring can be performed.
